How To Pray Eid-ul-Fitr Namaz At Home Under COVID-19 Lockdown

Under the present circumstances of COVID-19 lockdown, Eid-ul-Adha prayers are often performed within homes in congregation with a minimum of three people alongside the choice of Khutbah and in compliance with health and government regulations.

Eid prayer general guidelines within homes under the special circumstances of COVID-19 lockdown:

1. Eid prayer should be performed individually or in congregation within homes.

2. If three and more people are present then it should be performed in congregation led by the Imam.

3. If the Imam is capable of giving Khutbah (sermon), the Khutbah should tend after the prayer.

4. Health guidelines regarding physical distancing, cleanliness, and avoidance of hugging and shaking of hands should be adhered to.

5. External visitors joining the household for Eid prayer must follow government regulations specific to your location.

Time for Eid salaah (prayer) is quarter-hour after sunrise until mid-day.

·         Further Eid prayer guidelines consistent with Hanafi Mathhab.

·         4 mature males including the Imam got to be present for the khutbah and salaah (prayer).

·         Other members of the family can also join the salaah (prayer) reception .

·         2 Rak’ah (Units) of Eid salaah got to be performed.

·         Eid khutbah must tend after the salaah (prayer).

·         A person may pray Eid salaah (prayer_ individually but if you're alone, only pray 2 rak’ahs and no khutbah should tend .

How To Perform Eid-Al-Adha Prayer At Home

Eid salaah consists of two rak’ahs of salaah (prayer) with none Athaan or Iqamah.

The salaah (prayer) is performed like all other 2 rak’ah salaah (prayer) however there are 6 additional takbeers while raising the hands with each takbeer.

·   1st Rak’ah – The Imam will say the primary takbeer (Allahu Akbar) to commence the salaah (prayer) by raising the hands then folding them. The Imam and therefore the followers will then recite Dua-al-Istiftaah / Thanaa.

·         The Imam will then say the three additional takbeers by raising the hands and leaving them on the side and only folding them on the 3rd takbeer.

The followers will do an equivalent . the rest of the rak’ah are going to be completed as normal.

·     2nd Rak’ah – The Imam will commence the second rak’ah by reciting Surah Fatihah and a Surah. Before proceeding to ruku the Imam will make the three additional takbeers by raising the hands and leaving them on the edges . The followers will do an equivalent .

·         There after on the 4th takbeer the Imam will enter ruku and complete the salaah as normal. After the salaah has been completed the Khutbah are going to be given. Any khutbah will suffice, short or long.
